TYPBTK(A) | Basic Turbine Knowledge (Aeroplane)
The Basic Turbine Knowledge (Aeroplane) course is a foundational theory course that is an important gateway to success on turbine powered aircraft type rating courses. Whether you are a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) holder looking to unlock your first turboprop type rating, or are looking to make yourself more competitive for employment, holding a Basic Turbine Knowledge exam credit is vital. Although titled ‘Basic’, the syllabus is a highly comprehensive stage-by-stage breakdown of the inner workings of a turbine or ‘jet’ engine, and goes far beyond simple introductory concepts to ensure you can operate advanced powerplants safely, efficiently, and with deep mechanical understanding. A thorough understanding of the subject matter of this course is essential for safe operations, and a successful result in the Aspeq examination is a requirement for the issue of a BTK credit, which once issued is valid for the lifetime of the holder.
This course is open to anyone who has completed PPLMET and PPLATK(A).
